Turku City Board approves plan for new Herkules riverside block

The proposed plan transforms an underutilized, parking-dominated site into a lively green riverside neighbourhood for approximately 350 residents, featuring residential, commercial, and business spaces. The design incorporates a new pedestrian and cycling connection through the area and preserves the site’s existing Empire-style building.

The amendment to the local detailed plan is based on the winning proposal developed by Lundén Architecture Company and SRV for a site allocation competition organized by Senate Properties and the City of Turku in 2023–2024. The plan will now head to the Turku City Council for final approval.
