Raadi Kindergarten completion celebrated with opening ceremony
On Friday, October 17, Tartu Vald hosted an opening ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Raadi Kindergarten building. Constructed in under a year, the building and its surrounding yard form the first phase of the Raadi Education and Community Centre, which will eventually include a school, sports hall, and community park.
The building has begun to come to life with its new occupants. It currently serves as a temporary home for Raadi Elementary School, which welcomed its first students in September. The kindergarten is set to open next autumn. Designed to evolve with its users, the rational timber structure, adaptable interiors and dynamic landscape provide a supportive environment for learning and play.
Raadi Kindergarten has been designed by Lundén Architecture Company together with Estonian company, Arhitekt11. The design is based on their winning proposal in the 2022 international architecture competition. The landscape architecture was developed jointly by Lundén Architecture Company and TajuRuum, and the construction was carried out by KRC Ehitus OÜ.
